2024 Philippe Girard - St. Aubin Champ TIRANT (750ml)

Domaine Philippe Girard is a family estate based in Savigny-lès-Beaune with roots reaching back more than five centuries in the village. Philippe spent years working as both a vigneron and a cooper, building barrels alongside tending vines, and that dual craft gave him an unusually refined feel for oak aging that still shows in the domaine's wines today. His son, Arnaud, now works alongside him, continuing the family's careful, terroir-focused approach across holdings spread over fourteen communes in the Côte de Beaune and beyond.

Champ Tirant is a small parcel, just over a third of a hectare, planted in the heart of the Saint-Aubin village with vines now around fifty years old on white, clay-rich, heavily calcareous soil. The grapes are fully destemmed, pressed, and settled before fermenting in vat for eight to ten days, then the wine spends another eight to ten months aging in oak barrels, about a fifth of them new, before bottling.

The wine shows a golden color with aromas of almond, honey, and orange blossom, touched by a faintly floral, almost rosy note. The palate carries bright acidity alongside a distinctly mineral, saline quality, giving the wine real complexity for its size.
