Hine H By Hine VSOP Cognac 750ml
H by Hine was developed by Hine's cellar master, Eric Forget, working with the French Bartenders Association to answer a growing demand for a cognac built with mixing in mind. It carries forward the house's long history in Jarnac, founded when the English-born Thomas Hine married into a French cognac family in the late eighteenth century and later gave the business his name, while offering a lighter, more contemporary style than Hine's more traditional bottlings.
The blend combines around twenty eaux-de-vie sourced entirely from Grande and Petite Champagne, qualifying it for the Fine Champagne designation, with a minimum of fifty percent coming from Grande Champagne. As with the rest of the Hine range, distillation happens on the lees in direct-fired Charentais pot stills, a technique that builds roundness and texture into the spirit, before aging a minimum of four years in French oak from the Tronçais and Limousin forests.
The nose is fresh and lively, with jasmine and other white flowers, mild spice, and ripe apricot. On the palate, that same apricot carries through alongside yellow fruit and a touch of vanilla, finishing with a soft, velvety character rather than heavy oak. Its brighter, more approachable profile makes it a natural fit for cocktails, whether stirred into a Sidecar or topped with ginger ale or tonic.
