Founded in 1715, Martell is the oldest of the great Cognac houses, still headquartered in the town of Cognac in southwestern France. Cordon Bleu was created in 1912 by Edouard Martell and quickly became the house's flagship expression, earning a reputation as one of the first mass-market luxury cognacs and among the earliest bottlings to carry XO-caliber age. Now under the ownership of the Pernod Ricard group, Martell has kept the blend largely faithful to its original character for more than a century.

Cordon Bleu draws heavily on eaux-de-vie from the Borderies, the smallest and most tightly defined of the Cognac crus, prized for its aromatic, nutty depth, alongside spirits from the Grande and Petite Champagne growing areas. The various eaux-de-vie are distilled twice in traditional copper pot stills, then aged separately in French oak before a master blender combines dozens of components, some reaching well beyond two decades old, into the finished cognac.

Cordon Bleu opens with orchard fruit and dried plum, moving into toasted almond, mocha, and a touch of cinnamon and honeyed spice. The palate is rounded and mellow, carrying real depth without heaviness, and the finish lingers with soft oak, roasted nuts, and a trace of dried fruit sweetness.

"Here, we have a unique cognac in the XO category, Martell Cordon Bleu is endowed with beautiful complexity and rich aromas, making it a legendary cognac. Its high proportion of Borderies marks this blend, expanding on its caramelised character with the smoothness of sweet spices, gingerbread and roasted cocoa beans.

The ColorDeep, golden copper.

The AromaVibrant, rich and complex, with orchard fruit - candied plum and apple - harmonising with roasted notes of mocha coffee, toasted almonds and vetiver.

The TasteAn exceptionally rounded, mellow sensation further enhanced by Borderies eaux-de-vie, which lend elegance and complexity. An impressively long finish characterised by notes of fruit and spices.
