Pierre Ferrand Selection des Anges Cognac 750ml
Maison Ferrand is led by Alexandre Gabriel, a spirits maker known for reviving old and forgotten French traditions across a portfolio that also includes Plantation Rum and Citadelle Gin. Gabriel built the house's cognac program around Grande Champagne fruit and a philosophy of patient, low-intervention aging, and Sélection des Anges stands as one of its most ambitious bottlings, drawing on eaux-de-vie ranging from thirty to fifty-five years old.
The name refers to the "angels' share," the portion of spirit lost to evaporation during decades in oak, leaving behind a small but deeply concentrated remainder. Ferrand distills its Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie on the lees for added body, then ages the blend in Limousin oak across seven cellars with differing temperature and humidity before drawing the oldest barrels from its dedicated Paradise cellar. The finished blend is bottled at 41.8 percent alcohol.
Sélection des Anges pours a deep mahogany and opens with jasmine, honeysuckle, and walnut, followed by oak, vanilla, and a whisper of curry spice. The palate turns toward raisin, honey, and candied fruit, layered with nutmeg, ginger, and toasted hazelnut through a long, warming finish.
