Founded in 1769, Maison Prunier is one of the oldest houses in the Cognac region, still run today as an independent, family-guided estate after eleven generations. Rather than farming its own vineyards, Prunier sources eaux-de-vie directly from growers across the region, giving master blender Stéphane Burnez the freedom to select the exact terroir and character he wants for each expression, including this VSOP built specifically to showcase a younger cognac's natural roundness.

This VSOP is composed entirely of Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, drawn from the clay-limestone soils of Lignières-Ambleville, Touzac, and Angeac-Champagne, and aged seven to eight years in oak barrels of 200 and 400 liters. The cognac matures in Prunier's cellars in Gimeux, where humidity from a nearby river creates favorable aging conditions and supports real complexity despite the blend's relative youth.

Prunier VSOP pours a pale gold and opens with peach, fresh hazelnut, and walnut over a subtly woody base. The palate is round and precise, balancing natural sweetness with fine tannins and a spiced, elegant finish. It is best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass, ideally alongside a chocolate dessert or a cup of coffee.
