Combier Pamplemousse Liqueur 750ml
Combier Pamplemousse Rose comes from Distillerie Combier, one of the oldest working distilleries in France's Loire Valley, founded in Saumur in 1834 by Jean-Baptiste Combier. He started as a confectioner and chocolate maker, originally producing liqueurs simply to fill his candies, before customer demand convinced him to focus on liqueurs alone. That same distillery went on to create the world's first triple sec, and it still operates today from its original site along the banks of the Loire, recognized as a Living Heritage Company in France.
This grapefruit liqueur is made by macerating red grapefruit in neutral alcohol for an extended period, sometimes up to several months, to draw out the fruit's essential oils and juice. The infusion is then lightly pressed and sweetened just enough to soften the alcohol without masking the natural character of the fruit, a method the distillery has applied to its citrus and berry liqueurs since the nineteenth century. The result stays close to the fresh fruit itself, without artificial flavoring.
Combier Pamplemousse Rose shows a pale pink hue and a fresh, zesty aroma reminiscent of ripe grapefruit and citrus blossom. On the palate it is light and fruit forward, with a gentle bitterness recalling grapefruit marmalade, finishing crisp and clean rather than heavily sweet.
