DeKuyper Pucker Watermelon Liqueur is produced by DeKuyper Royal Distillers, a Dutch company whose origins trace back to 1695 and whose operations have centered in Schiedam, a port city near Rotterdam long known as a hub of the country's spirits trade. Pucker itself began as an innovation within that long history, introducing what became the sweet-and-sour schnapps category and eventually inspiring bar staples built around its sour apple counterpart.

Watermelon Pucker is made by blending neutral grain spirit with natural watermelon flavoring and added sugar, a formula designed to hit a distinct sweet-then-sour sequence on the palate rather than a single flat sweetness. That structure has defined the Pucker range since its introduction and remains the throughline across its many fruit flavors. The liqueur is bottled at 15% ABV, a proof level chosen to keep the fruit character concentrated and easy to incorporate into mixed drinks without diluting them.

The nose leans candy-bright and juicy, calling to mind fresh watermelon rind and flesh together. On the palate, initial sweetness gives way quickly to a pronounced sour snap, finishing crisp and clean rather than syrupy. It works nicely on its own over ice as a summer sipper, though its concentrated fruit character was really built for cocktails.
