Faccia Brutto is a Brooklyn, New York distillery founded by Patrick Miller, a former Rucola restaurant chef who grew up in an Italian family in Los Angeles and drew inspiration from his mother and grandparents while developing the line. Rather than importing traditional Italian amari, Faccia Brutto reinterprets old-world Italian liqueur styles using organic ingredients and small-batch methods, producing everything from fernet to aperitivo in-house.

Centerbe takes its name and inspiration from the historic Abruzzese liqueur style of the same name, meaning "hundred herbs," which originated on Italy's Mount Majella in the early 19th century. Faccia Brutto's version is built from twenty botanicals, split evenly between fresh and dried, macerated in a non-GMO neutral grain spirit. Dried ingredients like lemon balm, anise hyssop, nettles, and coriander steep for a full week, while fresh herbs such as parsley, tarragon, bay leaf, and marjoram are added only overnight to preserve their color and brightness. The tincture is then sweetened with organic cane sugar and bottled at 45% ABV.

The liqueur pours a vivid, naturally derived green. On the nose and palate it leads with fresh anise and mint, layered over alpine herbs, citrus peel, and a range of green, vegetal botanicals. The overall effect sits somewhere between Chartreuse and génépy, medicinal in structure but balanced by genuinely fresh herbal brightness, making it a fitting after-dinner digestif.
