King Floyd's Bar Provisions was founded by Lawrence Floyd Batterton, who began hand-crafting cocktail bitters for friends and the bartending community in San Francisco in 2013 before formally launching the brand in January of 2017. The name honors Batterton's father, from whom his middle name comes, while also nodding to Emperor Norton, the self-declared Emperor of San Francisco's Barbary Coast era. The company grew into a small-batch operation now based in Novato, California, and its Grapefruit Rosemary blend went on to win the Bitter Brawl's People's Choice Award in 2019.

Grapefruit Rosemary Bitters is built from organic ruby red grapefruit paired with organic rosemary, both extracted through the brand's slow percolation and maceration process. Herbs and botanicals are ground by hand, then steeped for up to two months while the mixture is tasted daily as it develops, before final filtering and a light touch of maple syrup to round out the finish. The result is a citrus-forward bitters with a savory, herbal backbone rather than a purely sweet or floral profile.

On the palate, bright, bittersweet grapefruit takes the lead, layered over the piny, savory tones of fresh rosemary that keep the citrus from tasting one-dimensional. The finish carries a lingering herbal note that gives the bitters some structure rather than fading into simple sweetness. It performs particularly well in lighter, clear-spirit cocktails built around gin, vodka, light rum, or blanco tequila.
