Maraska Pelinkovac Herbal (Kosher) Liqueur 750ml
Maraska has been distilling in Zadar, on Croatia's Dalmatian coast, since 1768, building one of Europe's longest continuous traditions in liqueur and brandy production. The house is best known internationally for its Maraschino cherry liqueur, but Pelinkovac remains one of its most beloved domestic bottlings, a cultural staple across Croatia, Slovenia, and the broader former Yugoslav region. This edition is produced under kosher certification.
Pelinkovac's recipe dates back to the nineteenth century and centers on wormwood, paired with a closely guarded blend of aromatic herbs and botanicals steeped to extract their oils and bitterness. The infused herbal extracts are then blended together following that traditional formula, resulting in a liqueur bottled at a classic European strength that places it in the same herbal-bitter family as Jagermeister or Italian amaro, though with a distinctly Balkan character.
The liqueur pours a deep mahogany brown and opens with an aromatic rush of bitter herbs, pine, and menthol. On the palate, wormwood's signature bitterness dominates, balanced by earthy roots, citrus peel, and a touch of sweetness that keeps it approachable. It is traditionally served ice-cold in a small chilled glass, often with a slice of orange, and doubles nicely as an after-dinner digestif or a herbal note in tonic-based cocktails.
