2009 Moet & Chandon - Champagne Brut Rose Dom Perignon
Dom Pérignon has been the prestige cuvée of Moët & Chandon since its first vintage release in 1921, produced only in years the house's cellar master deems exceptional. The rosé bottling was introduced later and remains rarer than the white version, made under the direction of chef de cave Vincent Chaperon, who has continued the house tradition of releasing each vintage only after years of patient aging on the lees.
The 2009 Rosé is a blend of roughly 56 percent Pinot Noir and 44 percent Chardonnay, sourced from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards across the Champagne region. The color and structure come from a small addition of still red wine blended in before the second fermentation. Following a rainy spring and a hot, dry summer, the 2009 growing season produced ripe, generous fruit. The wine spent about thirteen years maturing in the cellars before being disgorged in 2022, with a dosage of five grams per liter.
The color shows a warm coppery pink, and the nose opens with raspberry, fig, and blood orange alongside notes of toast and baking spice. On the palate the wine feels full-bodied and silky, with fine, persistent bubbles that carry through to a long, faintly smoky finish. It pairs beautifully with duck breast, grilled salmon, or aged Comté.
