The second wine of one of Pomerol’s great estates. La Gravette de Certan comes from the young vines of Vieux Château Certan, and in 2019 it was 100% Merlot, largely from vines planted in 2010. Dark and juicy, it shows black cherry, plum, minty blackberry, licorice and crushed rock, with supple tannins, lively acidity and a lifted finish. It’s polished, with a clear Pomerol character, and it’s ready to drink now. Pair it with roast lamb, prime rib, duck or a mushroom-rich beef stew.
