Mark and Teresa Aubert founded their estate in 1999, and it has become one of California’s most coveted Chardonnay houses. Park Avenue is one of their newest estate vineyards, planted in 2016 between their famous Lauren and CIX sites on the Sonoma Coast. It combines the Montrachet and Hyde Old Wente clones, and 2020 is only its second vintage bottled on its own. Like all Aubert Chardonnays, it’s made with minimal intervention and bottled unfined and unfiltered, so a slight haze is normal. Lisa Perrotti-Brown called Aubert’s 2020 Chardonnays some of the finest he’s ever made. Expect white nectarine, ripe stone fruit, lemon confit, tangerine oil and mint, with a little honey and shortbread. The palate is lush, full and creamy, with lime-juice freshness, mineral drive and a savory finish. Pour it with lobster, scallops or roast chicken.
