2022 Beringer - Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley (750ml)

Beringer Vineyards was founded in 1876 by brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer, making it California's longest continuously operating winery. The estate helped pioneer much of what defines Napa Valley hospitality today, having built some of the region's first gravity-fed facilities and hand-dug aging caves, and opening its doors to public tours as early as 1934. Now guided by Chief Winemaker Mark Beringer, a fifth-generation descendant of founder Jacob, the winery farms over 1,600 acres across Napa, Sonoma County, and Paso Robles, and remains one of the region's most established producers.

Knights Valley sits in a small, secluded pocket of Sonoma County wedged between Napa Valley and Alexander Valley, prized for the same red Bordeaux varieties that thrive in its neighboring appellations. Beringer owns or leases several vineyards throughout the AVA, and this bottling is blended each vintage to echo classic Bordeaux structure. The 2022 growing season ran warm, concentrating fruit and building richness in the grapes, while the fruit was fermented and aged to preserve bright acidity and fine-grained tannin alongside that ripeness.

The wine opens with blackcurrant, plum, and boysenberry, layered with dark chocolate, sage, and a whisper of tobacco and spice. Firm but silky tannins carry through a full-bodied palate into a long, structured finish. It suits grilled lamb chops, a well-seasoned ribeye, or aged cheddar.
