2023 Cambria - Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard Santa Maria Valley (750ml)

Cambria is owned by the Jackson family, longtime champions of sustainable California winemaking, with proprietor Julia Jackson lending her name to the estate's flagship vineyard. The winery sits in the Santa Maria Valley, an east-west running appellation in northern Santa Barbara County where warm inland air draws cool marine fog off the Pacific, creating one of California's most reliably cool-climate sites for Pinot Noir. Julia's Vineyard itself has become closely associated with a signature regional character often called "Santa Maria spice," a blend of earthy, fruit-forward, and mineral qualities distinct to the site.

This single-vineyard bottling is crafted entirely from Pinot Noir grapes farmed sustainably and destemmed before fermentation. The wine is aged for roughly seven months, developing structure and spice while preserving the bright red fruit character the vineyard is known for. The valley's crushed seashell soils and coastal influence show through in the finished wine, lending it both freshness and a distinct sense of place.

The nose offers pomegranate, dried cranberry, and black cherry, layered with cinnamon, sage, and clove. Balanced tannins carry through a structured, long finish with notes of dusty earth and red currant. It pairs well with roast duck, grilled salmon, or a charcuterie board with soft cheeses.
