Highclere Castle London Dry Gin comes from Highclere Castle Gin, launched in 2019 through a partnership between entrepreneur Adam von Gootkin and the 8th Earl and Countess of Carnarvon at Highclere Castle in Hampshire, England, the real-life estate famous as the setting for Downton Abbey. The gin is distilled at Langley Distillery, said to be England's oldest gin distillery, using antique copper stills dating back to the 1800s. Highclere has a long-standing connection to gin and cocktail culture, with letters and menus recovered from the Carnarvon family archives referencing gin cocktails enjoyed at the castle since the early twentieth century.

The gin draws on ten botanicals grown directly on the Highclere estate, where juniper has reportedly grown since Roman times. Orange peel comes from the castle's Victorian Orangery, while lavender is sourced from the Monks' Garden, originally planted in the ninth century by the Bishop of Winchester. Lime flower and cardamom round out the core botanical bill, and estate-grown oats are worked into the blend, an unconventional addition meant to soften and enrich the finish. The gin is distilled above an underground water source on the property and bottled at 43.5 percent alcohol by volume.

The nose centers on classic juniper, layered with lavender, lime flower, and orange peel. On the palate, the gin is distinctly citrus-forward, with cardamom and other estate herbs adding gentle spice. The oats bring a soft, creamy texture to the finish, giving the gin a notably smooth, velvety close rather than the sharper cut typical of many London Dry styles.
