Highland Park The Munro's 22 yr (dist.2000) Single Malt Whiskey 700ml

Highland Park Distillery has operated in Kirkwall, on Scotland's Orkney Islands, since 1798, making it the northernmost single malt Scotch producer in the country. Now owned by Edrington, the distillery draws on locally cut peat with an unusually high heather content, along with sherry casks of American and European oak sourced directly from Oloroso sherry producers in Spain, both hallmarks of its distinctive house style.

This single cask expression was distilled in 2000 and matured for twenty-two years before being independently bottled in 2023 under the Munro's label, a name tracing back to a historic Leith whisky blending house now applied to select cask releases from various distilleries. Bottled at cask strength, 57.5% ABV, the whiskey reflects Highland Park's characteristic combination of gentle peat smoke and long sherry cask influence, developed over more than two decades in wood.

The nose is described as impressive and charming, carrying the depth expected of a well-aged Orkney single malt. On the palate, the whiskey is rich, complex, and smooth, built on the layered sweetness and smoke typical of long-matured Highland Park stock. The finish is notably unique, rich, and long lasting.
