Few French food companies are as beloved as Hénaff, whose hometown of Pouldreuzic in southwestern Brittany even boasts a water tower painted to look like the brand’s famous blue and yellow pâté tin. The family business, founded in 1907 and now run by the fourth generation, prizes local roots, from the Breton pigs it sources to the tins printed in nearby Douarnenez since 1919. Its products have even traveled aboard the International Space Station as part of the astronauts’ food supply.

Rillettes are one of France’s oldest charcuterie traditions, made by slowly cooking pork in its own fat until the meat becomes tender enough to shred into a rich, spreadable confit. Hénaff keeps its recipe beautifully simple: 90 percent fresh pork of French origin, pork fat, sea salt, and pepper, with no colorings or preservatives. The pork is cooked gently over several hours, giving the meat and fat time to meld evenly.

The flavor is pure and deeply savory, showcasing the natural richness of slow-cooked pork with a clean seasoning of sea salt and a gentle peppery warmth. The texture is soft and silky, with tender strands of meat that melt on the palate.
