Route 11 - Salt & Pepper Potato Chips 6oz bag
Route 11 Potato Chips began in 1992 in a former feed store in Middletown, Virginia, when founder Sarah Cohen set out to make small-batch kettle chips. She named the company for the old highway that runs through the Shenandoah Valley, and in 2008 moved production to a purpose-built factory in Mount Jackson, where the chips are still cooked in small batches and visitors can watch them being made.
This flavor took about 12 years to perfect and won a Best in Virginia Award in 2018. Most salt and pepper chips use a dozen or more ingredients, but Route 11 uses only four: select potatoes, expeller-pressed high-oleic sunflower oil, salt, and pepper. The salt comes from an ancient sea beneath the Appalachian Mountains, drawn from a West Virginia brine well, and the pepper is cracked in large flakes.
Mineral and savory, the unrefined ancient sea salt brings a rounded, complex seasoning, while coarse cracked pepper adds a warm, peppery bite. The kettle-cooked chips are crunchy and curly, with plenty of potato flavor and a balanced, classic finish.
