2019 Chateau Palmer Margaux
One of Bordeaux's most iconic estates, perennially punching above its Third Growth classification and routinely competing with the First Growths. Certified biodynamic, with low-SO2 winemaking under director Thomas Duroux. A classically styled Palmer — blackberry, briary notes, and pressed iris petals with a distinct marine influence; sea spray emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, tightly knit on the entry, very fresh and saline, with a slight bitter edginess toward a Côte de Nuits–like finish. Iris and violet aromatics swirl from the glass, with velvet texture, concentrated cassis and blackberry fruit, gentle spice, soft charcoal, and sappy tannins that slowly expand and build through the palate — the Palmer signature of energy and precision here in spades, with mouthwatering salinity on the finish. Drink 2027–2055.
