2022 Chateau Beychevelle - St. Julien (750ml)
One of the most beautiful châteaux in the Médoc — its name derived from "baisse-voile" ("lower the sails"), a tribute paid to its 16th-century owner, the Admiral of France. Winemaker Philippe Blanc called 2022 his best vintage in 28 years at Beychevelle, marveling at the paradoxical freshness achieved despite extreme heat and drought. The bouquet retains wonderful precision and focus — pure black fruit, black olive compote, and subtle tobacco; medium-bodied with very fine tannins, a newfound sense of clarity lifts this 2022 above recent vintages, finishing with unequivocal elegance and tempting length. Picked between September 12–29, matured 18 months in 70% new oak. Widely regarded as a benchmark Beychevelle and one of the finest expressions this estate has ever produced. Drink 2028–205
