2022 Michel Lafarge - Volnay Mitans

Les Mitans sits just below Clos des Chênes, with two parcels — one 45 years old, one 73 — coming together to give this bottling more density and clay-driven structure than Lafarge's other Volnay premier crus. Certified organic and biodynamic, hand-destemmed, and aged in predominantly used barrels, the 2022 shows cherries, sweet spices, orange zest, and peony, with a medium-to-full-bodied, deep and enveloping palate built around sweet, powdery tannins. Widely considered one of the finest vintages of this cuvée the domaine has produced — supple, concentrated red berry fruit with real energy and a long, generous finish.
