2023 Trimbach - Pinot Blanc (750ml)
Maison Trimbach's roots in Alsace stretch back to 1626, when Jean Trimbach was recognized as a citizen of the town of Riquewihr and began the family's long association with wine growing there. The estate today is guided by twelfth-generation winemaker Pierre Trimbach and his nephew Julien, with Pierre's brother Jean and daughter Anne serving as ambassadors for the brand around the world. Trimbach counts among the largest holders of Grand Cru vineyards in Alsace, and in 2023 the domaine earned HVE-3 organic certification, formalizing decades of careful, low-intervention farming across its holdings.
This Pinot Blanc is sourced from around seventy growers spread across villages near Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr, Bergheim, and Riquewihr, where the Vosges Mountains shelter the vines and keep rainfall low. Pierre Trimbach personally selects fruit from these growers at harvest, choosing only parcels that meet the estate's standards. The grapes are pressed gently in pneumatic presses and fermented fully dry, an approach meant to preserve the clarity and purity of the fruit rather than layer on additional character.
The wine pours a pale yellow with green glints, opening to aromas of white flowers and ripe apricot. The palate is smooth and medium-bodied, framed by crisp acidity and light mineral touches. It pairs nicely with a chilled shrimp salad, spring vegetable dishes, or fresh mozzarella.
