2024 Alain Hudelot-Noellat - Chambolle Musigny Charmes (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat has been a fixture in Chambolle-Musigny since Alain Hudelot founded it in 1962, later expanding through vineyards his wife, Odile Noëllat, brought into the family. Alain's grandson, Charles van Canneyt, took over winemaking in 2008 and has steadily built the estate's reputation among the appellation's finest addresses. Alongside a run of Grand Cru sites in Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot, the domaine holds a handful of prized Chambolle Premier Crus, Les Charmes among them.
Les Charmes lies on the Vougeot side of Chambolle-Musigny, bordering the celebrated Les Amoureuses. Hudelot-Noëllat's holding here is a single, tiny parcel of just over a fifth of a hectare, planted back in 1955. Those old vines, rooted on the lower slope's chalky, well-drained soils, are farmed with the same careful, low-yield approach applied across the estate and aged in barrel for roughly eighteen months before bottling.
Expect dark cherry, cassis, and pressed violets layered with rose petal and orange zest, framed by fine, powdery tannins and a lifted, mineral edge on the finish. The wine's structure and perfume suit venison, roasted game birds, or a firm aged Beaufort.
