Named for the estate's founder Eugène Moussé, who began vinifying his own Champagne in 1923 — and tragically perished in the Neuengamme concentration camp in 1945. Today the 12th-generation estate is run by Cédric Moussé, one of the Marne Valley's most exciting grower-producers. A perpetual cuvée drawing from a solera established in 2003, with reserve wines spanning over two decades; vinified entirely in stainless steel with full malolactic fermentation and aged 24+ months on lees, dosage at just 2 g/L. Balanced and well-spiced, with ground clove, cardamom, and ginger winding through flavors of ripe white peach, soft fig, and baked plum; softly juicy with a raw silk mousse and notes of salted almond, chamomile, smoke, and spun honey lingering on the finish. One of the most compelling Pinot Meunier-driven Champagnes available at this price
92 Points
"The NV Champagne Eugène Dosage Zéro pours a bright straw/light copper color and is pretty and spicy. Medium-bodied, it has precision and minerality, with a peppery, fresh mousse, white floral notes, white peach, and mouthwatering freshness. The nose has a lightly savory edge, with notes of coriander, orange peel, and pith. It's refreshing and clean on the palate, with an understated but appealing elegance, and it’s very pretty. Drink 2025-2035. This bottling is 70% from 2022 and the rest from the perpetual reserve from 2003-2021, made with 80% Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir, from vines averaging 40 years old. Zero dosage."
