St. Hubertus Herbal Liqueur 700ml

St. Hubertus is a classic Hungarian herbal liqueur produced by the Zwack House, a distiller with a long history of herbal spirit production in Hungary, and it takes its name and antlered logo from the patron saint of hunters. Its secret recipe has been passed down within the company since 1901, making it a fixture of Hungarian drinking culture for well over a century, and the Original expression won a gold medal at the 2020 World Spirits Award.

The liqueur is built around a base extract of orange and wormwood, blended with a selection of hand picked medicinal herbs and spices. That herbal extract is then aged in oak barrels, a step the producer credits for adding richness and rounding out the final flavor before bottling. Every ingredient used is natural, with no artificial additives, reflecting the same traditionalist approach found across the rest of the St. Hubertus range, which today also includes variations built around forest berries and blood orange.

The result is a bold, harmoniously balanced liqueur with a citrus forward orange character up front, followed by a gentle bitterness from the wormwood and other botanicals. Aging in oak gives it a slightly rounder, more mellow finish than younger herbal liqueurs, with the orange and spice lingering longest on the palate.
