Tanqueray No. Ten Gin 750ml
Tanqueray traces its roots to 1830, when Charles Tanqueray, the scientifically minded son of a clergyman, set up a distillery on Vine Street in London and began experimenting with botanical recipes rather than following his family into the church. His London Dry recipe went on to become a benchmark for the category, and the brand survived a World War II bombing that destroyed its original premises before production eventually relocated to the Cameronbridge Distillery in Fife, Scotland, where it remains under Diageo today.
Introduced in 2000 as the first super-premium gin on the market, No. Ten takes its name from a small vintage pot still nicknamed "Tiny Ten." Unlike standard Tanqueray, this expression is distilled using whole fresh citrus rather than dried peel, with hand-cut Florida oranges, Mexican limes, and white grapefruit macerated alongside chamomile flowers and the brand's four traditional botanicals of juniper, coriander, angelica, and liquorice. A second distillation in a larger copper still rounds out the spirit before it is cut with demineralized water to bottling strength.
The result is bright and floral on the nose, with juniper backed by fresh grapefruit zest and chamomile. On the palate it feels silky and rounded, with citrus, white pepper, and a touch of licorice spice carrying through to a long, faintly creamy finish. It shines in a classic Martini or Gimlet, and its citrus-forward profile also makes it a natural match for a well-made Gin and Tonic.
