Mitravelas is the oldest winery in Nemea, with family roots tracing back over a century to registered vineyard plots owned by the Mitravelas family in the early nineteenth century. The three Mitravelas brothers formally established the winery in the center of town in 1913, and in 2003 Konstantinos Mitravelas, who studied business administration, took over operations, continuing the family's viticultural legacy while modernizing the winemaking approach. Agiorgitiko remains central to everything the estate produces, reflecting its status as the only grape permitted under the Nemea PDO.

This Ktima bottling comes from vines averaging forty years of age within the estate's privately owned vineyards around Nemea. After destemming, the grapes are inoculated with locally selected yeasts and fermented at a low temperature for about fifteen days, then aged in second and third use French oak barrels for six to eight months, a shorter period than in past vintages that the estate found better suited to preserving the fruit's character.

The wine is full bodied and structurally balanced, showing pomegranate, black cherry, and baking spice alongside notes of violet, roasted pepper, and leather, giving it a character not unlike a classic Rioja though darker in hue. Velvety tannins and real complexity give it aging potential into the early 2030s. It pairs naturally with roasted meats, aged cheeses, or root vegetable dishes.
