Mythos traces its roots to Henninger Hellas, established in 1968 as the Greek distributor of the German Henninger brand. The Boutari Group acquired the company in 1992 and renamed it Northern Greece Brewery two years later, setting out to build a genuinely Greek national beer. That ambition came to life in 1997 with the launch of Mythos, which proved so successful that the company itself was renamed Mythos Brewery. The brand became part of the Carlsberg Group in 2008 and has been produced by Olympic Brewery, a Carlsberg subsidiary, since a 2015 merger.

Mythos is brewed at Olympic Brewery's facility in the Sindos industrial area near Thessaloniki, a plant capable of bottling millions of crates each year. Its recipe was developed by combining the expertise of a Greek master brewer with techniques drawn from German, Irish, Danish, and French brewing traditions, using selected barley and hops to create an approachable European-style pale lager at five percent alcohol by volume.

The beer pours a bright, golden blonde with a rich, persistent foam. The aroma is clean and grainy, with a light hop character and a touch of mild sweetness on the palate, finishing crisp and refreshing. Pair it with grilled souvlaki, Greek salad with feta, or fried calamari.
