Nebbiolo grapes cultivated on the Gramolère slopes produce a medium-to-full-bodied Barolo anchored by aromatic depth and polished structural tannins. The 2018 vintage captures the warm growing season with generous red fruit concentration—wild strawberry, sour cherry, and dried rose petal—balanced by savory layers of black pepper, cured leather, and damp earth. Bright natural acidity keeps the finish clean, making the wine approachable now while retaining enough backbone to age gracefully through 2030.

Typical of this hillside cru, the wine shows marked elegance rather than heavy extraction. Extended barrel maturation allows the tannins to settle smoothly, preserving the delicate floral top notes that define high-altitude Nebbiolo. Serving between 62–65°F highlights the fresh berry core, while a quick 45-minute decint breathes life into poured servings and primes the palate for food pairings.

Suggested Food Pairings

  • Piedmontese Pasta:tajarin or agnolotti tossed in brown butter and sage, or filled with roasted meats and ricotta
  • Braised & Roasted Proteins:bavette al barolo, slow-roasted short ribs, or pan-seared duck breast
  • Firm Cheeses & Earthy Vegetables:aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, wild porcini risotto, or roasted root vegetables with thyme

Keep sealed away from direct sunlight and maintain storage temperatures near 55°F for optimal aging. Once opened, re-cork tightly and refrigerate to preserve freshness for the next three to four days.

"The 2018 Barolo Gramolere is another gorgeous wine from Alessandria. It

has the same translucent character I saw from barrel. The tannins remain

a bit edgy, perhaps because of what appears to be a bit less fruit depth.

Savory, floral and mineral notes abound in this mid-weight, classically built

Barolo from Fratelli Alessandria.
