2018 Sandrone, L. - Barolo Aleste
The 2018 Sandrone Barolo Aleste delivers structured intensity and precise pit fruit from the celebrated Cannubi Boschis cru, establishing itself as a definitive single-vineyard Nebbiolo for serious cellars.
Named for winemaker Luciano Sandrone’s grandchildren, Alessia and Stefano, this bottling comes exclusively from the family’s treasured Cannubi Boschis vineyard in Barolo DOCG. The 2018 vintage opens with aromatic layers of red and dark cherry, fresh raspberry, dried violet, and the mineral-driven spice that defines the site. Moving to the palate, the wine reveals a concentrated yet balanced structure, guided by grippy but polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a persistently silky finish.
Crafted for long-term aging, the 2018 Aleste will begin reaching optimal drinkability around 2026 and will evolve gracefully for decades beyond. Its firm tannic backbone and savory depth make it an ideal companion to rich, slowly cooked proteins and earthy preparations. Serve alongside braised short ribs, slow-roasted leg of lamb, wild mushroom risotto, black truffle pasta, or aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano. Open the bottle and decant for sixty to ninety minutes before pouring at 62–65°F to let the tannic structure settle and the complex aromatics fully unfold.
