The 2019 Mauro Molino Barolo Conca presents a structured, age-worthy expression of Piedmont’s Nebbiolo grape, anchored by firm tannins and pronounced mineral depth. Sourced from the Castiglione Falletto slope designated as Conca Fiorita, this harvest captures the 2019 vintage’s characteristic balance of ripeness and vibrant acidity, producing a wine that offers accessible early character alongside clear cellar viability.

Fresh aromatics open with sour cherry, dried rose, and damp soil, followed by secondary layers of tobacco leaf, violet, and toasted spice. The medium-bodied palate delivers dark berry compression and crystalline grit, finishing with a lingering, savory dryness. Due to the wine’s dense phenolic structure, gentle aeration unlocks volatile aromatics before serving.

Savory, protein-forward dishes align naturally with this style. Slow-braised beef or lamb, mushroom-based ragù, and robust hard cheeses complement the tannin profile while allowing earthy minerality to surface. Roasted root vegetables and truffle-infused preparations further harmonize with the wine’s rustic elegance.

Nestled in a standard 750ml vessel, this release continues Mauro Molino’s tradition of extended maceration and aging in large wooden casks. The result is a restrained yet powerful vintage that prioritizes geographic clarity over extraction, securing its place among methodical, site-driven Barolos.

94+ Points
"The 2019 Barolo Conca shows a very light garnet color that shines in the glass. The bouquet starts off nicely, but this wine definitely needs more time in the bottle. The oak influences need time to integrate in favor of the pretty fruit that characterizes this vintage. Wild cherry, lavender and toasted cinnamon can be admired now, but in time, these aromas will soften. Production is 3,069 bottles. This is the estate's flagship wine that Mauro Molino first produced in 1982."
