2020 Guido Porro - Barolo DOCG Vigna Lazzairasco (750ml)
Hand-harvested Nebbiolo from Verduno’s Vigna Lazzairasco vineyard yields a 2020 Barolo DOCG distinguished by early aromatic complexity alongside a tannic structure built for multi-decade cellar life.
The 2020 Piedmont growing season featured steady seasonal rainfall and moderate sunshine, producing Nebbiolo clusters that reached complete phenolic maturity without losing the varietal’s signature bright acidity. Guided by extended skin contact and long aging in large, neutral Slavonian oak botti, the wine prioritizes fruit transparency and soil-driven minerality over heavy extraction. The aromatic profile opens with crushed rose leaves, dried strawberry, black tea, and cracked peppercorn, gradually revealing damp earth, cured tobacco, and iron oxide. On the palate, the tannins present as fine and woven rather than abrasive, supporting a core of tangy cherry and a persistent, saline finish that rewards patience but remains accessible upon release.
