2020 Pietradolce - Etna Rosso DOC Contrada Rampante (750ml)
Born from the steep, ash-colored slopes of Mount Etna, the 2020 Pietradolce Etna Rosso Contrada Rampante is built around Nerello Mascalese cultivated in the celebrated Rampante vineyard sector. Planting into ancient volcanic soil and benefiting from significant diurnal temperature swings, the grapes develop concentrated dark fruit alongside the signature oxidative stone and saline qualities that elevate premium Sicilian reds.
Tasting ProfileNose opens with wild cherry, raspberry compote, and cracked black pepper, layered over a foundation of wet slate, tobacco leaf, and Mediterranean thyme. On the palate, the wine moves through a lean, savory arc with crisp tannins and a backbone of bright acidity. The finish remains elongated and earthy, pointing toward damp forest floor and iron rather than heavy oak. Suggested Pairings
Volcanic minerals and savory depth make this an ideal companion to herb-driven and umami-rich meals. Pairs best with slow-braised rabbit or pork, wild boar ragu, baked gnocchi topped with roasted zucchini and pecorino croccante, or charcuterie boards featuring aged pecorino and salumi. The structural acid also stands up to tomato-heavy preparations and lightly grilled seafood like branzino.
Store upright away from direct heat. For optimal expression, decant thirty to forty minutes prior to serving.
