Grown between 600 and 1,000 meters on Mount Etna’s northern slopes, this 2022 vintage delivers a precise reflection of Sicilian volcanic terroir through a hand-harvested blend dominated by Nerello Mascalese and finished with a touch of Nerello Cappuccio. The vines thrive in thin, sandy volcanic soil at Arcuria di Passopisciaro, where minimal intervention farming preserves the distinct mineral signature characteristic of the region. After native yeast fermentation in oak vats, the wine rests for 24 months in oak barrels, a prolonged élevage that builds structural depth without masking the site's character.

Ruby red hues deepen toward garnet upon pouring, revealing an aromatic profile dominated by blackberry and black currant that gradually unfolds into violet on the finish. The palate registers as full-bodied with a firm tannic backbone, carrying earthy minerality and savory complexity through a long, clean close.

Serve this bottling alongside dishes that complement its robust structure and age-worthy profile:

  • Braised meats, which soften the tannic grip and match the wine's richness
  • Wild mushroom risotto, harmonizing with the earthy minerality of the volcanic vineyards
  • Aged sheep's cheese, cutting through the full body while echoing the savory finish
95 Points
"Medium red in color, the 2022 Etna Rosso Feudo Di Mezzo starts to take things to the next level and yet is so inviting, with notes of cardamom, sweet spices of nutmeg, wild raspberries, and pressed roses. Medium-bodied and elegant, with fine tannin and pure hints of sweet and salty citrus on a gently tapering finish, it was tasted at the estate, which sits on the sandier soil Feudo di Mezzo, whereas Arcuria, which is right next door, has more stone. Drink 2025-2040."
