2022 Masi - Rosso Veronese IGT Campofiorin (750ml)
Crafted through Masi’s proprietary double-fermentation technique, the 2022 Masi Campofiorin delivers the concentrated body and aromatic complexity of an Amarone while maintaining a noticeably softer, more approachable structure. Grown in the Valpolicella zone near Verona, this Rosso Veronese IGT blends Corvina, Rondinella, and a measured fraction of Molinara. Instead of prolonging the drying process, Masi re-ferments the freshly crushed must alongside the leftover pomace of semi-dried Amarone grapes. This secondary maceration extracts additional sugars, deep ruby pigments, and glycerol, allowing the wine to carry more weight and polish without crossing into Reserve-level austerity.
Tasting Profile
The 2022 vintage shows an intense ruby red center with visible crimson reflections. The bouquet opens with ripe cherry and dark plum, layered with sweet fennel, clove, and a whisper of vanilla derived from the extended enzymatic action. On the palate, the wine is round and velvety, supported by well-integrated tannins and a mid-palate grip that resolves into a clean, persistent finish.
Suggested Food Pairings
Its balanced acidity and supple tannic framework make it highly versatile across dinner courses. The wine complements slow-braised beef and lamb dishes, roasted Venetian-style game, umami-rich mushroom recipes, and hard aged cheeses. Serving the bottle at 60–65°F allows the darker fruit and spice notes to surface clearly alongside a savory evening meal.
