Casale del Giglio was founded in 1967 in Le Ferriere, a hamlet in Lazio that had seen little serious winemaking before the estate's arrival, giving the family room to experiment with grape varieties and techniques not traditionally associated with the region. The name Satrico references Satricum, a pre-Roman settlement whose ruins still stand near the estate's vineyards, tying this bottling to the long history of the surrounding land. Over the decades the winery has built a reputation for combining international varieties with a distinctly Lazio sense of place.

Satrico is a blend of roughly equal parts Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Trebbiano, each contributing a different element to the finished wine: Chardonnay brings body, Sauvignon Blanc adds aromatic lift, and Trebbiano supplies bright, linear freshness. The grapes are grown on the estate's vineyards near the coast south of Rome and vinified to preserve their varietal character, resulting in a wine typically bottled around 13 to 13.5% alcohol.

This vintage should show the bright citrus zest, fresh herb, and crisp apple character the blend is known for, along with a touch of white peach and a stony mineral edge on the finish. The acidity stays lively throughout, giving the wine an energetic, refreshing quality.
