NV Grasso, Fratelli - Langhe DOC Rosso Trej
"Trej" is Piedmontese dialect for "three," a nod to the trio of grapes blended here, Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto, each fermented and aged completely separately (Nebbiolo on the skins 15 to 25 days, Barbera 10 to 12, Dolcetto just 10) before being married together by taste. The result borrows Nebbiolo's structure while the Barbera and Dolcetto soften its naturally firm tannins, making for an approachable, everyday red with real character. Made by brothers Luigi and Alfredo Grasso, who've farmed their family vineyards in Treiso, in the heart of the Barbaresco zone, since 1970. Bright, textured, and genuinely versatile at the table, equally at home with red sauce, pizza, risotto, or grilled meats.
