2023 Guigal - Cotes du Rhone (750ml)
E. Guigal, the family house founded in 1946 in Ampuis, has made this wine a benchmark for what a Côtes du Rhône can be. A blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache, and 10% Mourvèdre, partly aged in large oak foudres. Expect blackberry, red berries, peppery herbs, and violets, with cassis, tobacco leaf, and a hint of black olive on the finish. Medium-bodied and supple with a round, charming texture, and a bit of grip that makes it a natural with grilled meats and roast chicken. A genuine overachiever at everyday-wine money, and one of the most reliable bottles in the category.
