Luxardo has produced liqueurs since 1821, when Girolamo Luxardo established the family distillery in Zara on the Dalmatian coast, later relocating to Torreglia in Italy's Veneto region after the Second World War. While the house is best known for maraschino and its Marasca cherry liqueurs, its citrus liqueurs follow the same commitment to traditional distillation methods rather than simple flavoring or infusion, a practice the family has maintained across two centuries of production.

Triplum takes its name from the historic triple sec style, which traditionally referred to a liqueur distilled from the dried peels of three different citrus fruits. Luxardo's version uses curaçao oranges, a bitter variety native to the Dutch Antilles, alongside sweet oranges and mandarins. The peels are distilled with heads and tails separated out, so that only the purest heart of the spirit continues to a second distillation. Dried orange blossom, pennyroyal, and vervain round out the recipe before the distillate is filtered, diluted, and lightly sweetened, then bottled at 40% alcohol by volume.

The nose is intensely citrus-forward, with bitter curaçao notes tempered by the delicate perfume of orange blossom. On the palate, the liqueur is smooth and enveloping, showing a well-rounded blend of sweet and bitter orange flavors reminiscent of marmalade, with a clean, mature finish.

"It is difficult to make a good Orange liqueur. Luxardo passes the test with flying colors. The refined Triple Sec of Luxardo is the result of the distillation of bitter oranges from Cura?ao and sweet oranges and tangerines from Sicily, enriched by the delicate aroma of orange blossoms. Luxardo's Triplum Orange Liqueur is vibrant, sharp and elegantly dry, with ripe flavors bursting from the glass.Colour: trasparent. ? Aroma: an intense nose of citrus fruits, with bitter notes of cura?ao, tempered by the perfume of zagara. ? Taste: smooth enveloping flavor of citrus fruits, a very well rounded and mature taste. A surprising aromatic persistence, typical of distillates matured in wood.On contact with ice, the liqueur releases an eyecatching roiling 'cloud' in the glass, proof of the aromatic presence of precious essential oils "
