Del Maguey Vida Mezcal 750ml
Del Maguey was founded in 1995 by artist and mezcal visionary Ron Cooper, who built lasting relationships with Zapotec family producers across Oaxaca to bring authentic, village-specific mezcal to an international audience. Vida was launched in 2010 as an accessible entry point into the Del Maguey portfolio, designed to introduce drinkers to genuine artisanal mezcal without straying from the traditional methods the brand was built on. It is produced by the Cruz Nolasco family in the mountain village of San Luis del Río, one of the founding villages of the Del Maguey project.
Vida is crafted from 100% organically farmed Espadín agave, harvested at maturity and roasted in an earthen pit oven before being twice distilled in small, wood-fired copper stills set along the riverbank. This riverside setup and the region's tropical microclimate give the spirit a character distinct from mezcals made in drier, higher-altitude villages, while keeping the handcrafted, small-batch process intact from harvest through bottling.
The nose leans toward tropical fruit, honey, and roasted agave with a faint smokiness, while the palate brings ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper over a light, clean body. The finish is soft and lightly peppery, making this an easygoing mezcal equally suited to sipping or to anchoring an agave-forward cocktail.
