Don Julio Reposado Tequila 750ml

Don Julio González was born in Jalisco in 1925 and, after his father's death left him supporting his family at just fifteen, began selling tequila from barrels by horseback around the countryside. In 1942, with a loan from a local businessman, he built his own distillery, La Primavera, and went on to create what's widely considered the world's first luxury tequila. The brand officially launched under his name in 1987, and Diageo acquired full ownership in 2014 while preserving production at the original distillery.

Don Julio Reposado is made from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the red clay soils of Atotonilco el Alto, in the Jalisco highlands. The harvested agave cores are roasted in brick ovens for a couple of days, then crushed to release their juice, which is fermented and distilled without any added sugars. The resulting spirit rests for a minimum of eight months in American white oak barrels, notably longer than the two-month industry standard for reposado, developing its golden color and rounding out the raw agave character.

The nose offers mellow lemon citrus and spice alongside cooked agave and smoked oak. On the palate the tequila is silky and balanced, with dark chocolate, vanilla, and light cinnamon over roasted agave, finishing long and warm with dried fruit, nuts, and a touch of caramel.
