Herradura Anejo Tequila 750ml
Casa Herradura traces its history to Hacienda San José del Refugio, founded in 1870 by Don Félix López, whose name for the property, meaning horseshoe, gave the brand its now-iconic label. Located near the birthplace of tequila in Jalisco, Mexico, the distillery has stayed in continuous operation on the same grounds for well over a century and is widely credited with launching the añejo category when it introduced this expression in 1962, alongside its later Reposado in 1974.
Herradura Añejo begins with hand-selected 100% Blue Weber agave, cooked in the distillery's traditional hand-made clay ovens before the fibrous core is crushed and fermented, then distilled to produce the base spirit. The tequila is then aged in American white oak barrels for around 25 months, roughly double the one-year minimum required for the añejo category, a long maturation that deepens both its color and complexity well beyond standard expressions.
The nose is intense with cooked agave, spice, toasted oak, and nutty, floral notes. On the palate the tequila is remarkably smooth, showing cooked agave, dried fruit, vanilla, and caramel, with a creamy finish that carries a gentle dusting of black pepper.
