Los Siete Misterios was founded in 2010 by brothers Eduardo and Julio Mestre, whose devotion to preserving ancestral mezcal production centers on the district of Sola de Vega in Oaxaca's Sierra Sur. This Arroqueño bottling is crafted under the skilled hands of Mezcaleros Alberto Vásquez, Antonio Amador, and Fernando Damián, who continue the region's tradition of clay pot distillation, a method that makes up less than one percent of all mezcal production due to the significant loss of liquid it entails.

Arroqueño, botanically Agave americana var. oaxacensis, is among the largest and slowest-growing agaves used in mezcal, requiring twelve to twenty-five years to reach maturity. The massive piñas are cooked in traditional underground earthen ovens, then milled entirely by hand and left to ferment naturally. What sets this expression apart is its olla de barro distillation, run through small clay pot stills rather than copper, a technique that softens the spirit and lends it a distinctive rustic, spicier character shaped by the agave's decades in the ground.

The nose is soft and aromatic, with butter, mint, and thyme layered over cooked agave and a delicate floral lift. On the palate, citrus and walnut intertwine with earthy minerality, unwinding into dried fruit and aromatic herbs through a long, gently sweet finish.
