Bitter Truth Grapefruit Bitters 200ml

The Bitter Truth was founded in Munich in 2006 by bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck, who started hand producing their own bitters after finding it difficult to source good ones in Germany at the time. Drawing on Berg's deep personal archive of vintage bitters, the pair used old cocktail recipes as a guide for which flavors to revive, and Grapefruit Bitters became part of their expanding lineup as the brand grew beyond its original three releases.

Grapefruit Bitters is made in Germany from a base of natural herbs and spices macerated with water, alcohol, and beet sugar, built around the flavor of ripe yellow grapefruit rather than a single dominant spice note. The blend incorporates hop character alongside the citrus, giving it a slightly bitter, vegetal backbone, and it is bottled at 44% alcohol by volume, on the stronger end of the brand's range.

The bitters open with a sharp, zesty grapefruit rind aroma and a burst of tangy acidity on the tongue, layered with complex vegetal notes that mellow into a dry, hop-driven finish. The overall effect reads bright and slightly resinous rather than sweet, making it a natural fit for gin, vodka, blanco tequila, and other clear spirits that can carry citrus-forward flavor.
