Bittermens Elemakule Tiki Bitters 4oz
Bittermens was founded by Avery and Janet Glasser, who began experimenting with bitters recipes in San Francisco in 2007 after attending a bitters-making event and getting an enthusiastic response from local bartenders. The company grew through a series of moves, eventually landing in New Orleans before later relocating operations to Portland, Oregon, and along the way built a reputation for tightly formulated, small-batch bitters aimed squarely at working bartenders.
Elemakule Tiki Bitters was developed after tiki bartender Brian Miller asked the Glassers whether they had considered making falernum, the spiced West Indian cordial. Since they were not cordial makers at the time, they instead built a bitters meant to bring the same tropical spice character to a dash bottle, drawing on both Polynesian and Caribbean traditions. The bitters are bottled at 44% alcohol by volume in Bittermens' signature cobalt blue dropper bottle, with no age statement.
Cinnamon and allspice form the backbone of the flavor, supported by a wider cast of spice notes including clove, cassia bark, and a soft honeyed sweetness. The finish turns woody and herbal, with a lingering warmth that suits rum and other dark spirits, making it a natural addition to Mai Tais and other tiki style drinks.
