Fee Brothers Cherry Bitters 5oz
Fee Brothers has been making bitters and bar essentials in Rochester, New York since the 1860s, one of only a handful of bitters manufacturers with that kind of continuous history in the United States. The company has grown into a wide catalog of flavored bitters while staying a family operation, still producing everything out of its original Rochester base.
Cherry Bitters is one of Fee Brothers' longer-standing fruit bitters, built from a glycerin and water base flavored with natural and artificial cherry extracts along with citric acid for tartness. Unlike the company's spirit-based releases, it carries a lower alcohol content, and the formula leans on almond notes alongside the cherry to round out the flavor rather than relying on a bittering agent for structure.
The nose carries sweet almond candy alongside ripe cherry, with the palate delivering a balance of tart and sour cherry backed by a marzipan-like almond undertone. The bitterness itself stays light, so the overall effect reads closer to a concentrated cherry extract than a classic aromatic bitters, which makes it a straightforward way to deepen the cherry character in a Manhattan or Old Fashioned without adding syrupy sweetness.
