Fee Brothers Lemon Bitters 5oz
Fee Brothers has been making bitters and bar essentials in Rochester, New York since the 1860s, a family business that has grown across generations into one of the widest bitters catalogs still produced in the United States. The company continues to manufacture its full range, from citrus and fruit bitters to barrel aged expressions, out of its original Rochester operation.
Lemon Bitters stands apart from several other Fee Brothers releases in that it uses an alcohol base rather than glycerin, bottled at 45.9% alcohol by volume. The formula blends a variety of carefully selected lemon oils with lemongrass and other natural flavors, along with citric acid for added tartness, giving it a layered citrus character built from multiple lemon sources rather than a single extract.
The bitters carry an intense, old fashioned sour lemon candy aroma, with lemongrass adding a slightly savory, herbal undertone beneath the citrus. On the palate the flavor is tart and concentrated rather than heavily bitter, closing with a rounded lemon oil finish. A dash or two lifts a Gin and Tonic, sharpens a Whiskey Sour, or adds brightness to a dry Martini without the dilution of a fresh twist.
