Scrappy's Bitters The new classics mini set 4pk
Scrappy's Bitters began in Seattle in 2008, founded by bartender Miles Thomas after years spent researching herbs and extraction methods in pursuit of better bitters than what was then commercially available. That groundwork established Scrappy's as a leading name in the American craft bitters revival, and the company still handcrafts every batch in a single Seattle facility using organic ingredients rather than oils or synthetic extracts. The New Classics Mini Set gathers four of the brand's more distinctive expressions, offering a way to sample flavors that have become staples in contemporary cocktail menus.
The set includes four 0.5 ounce dropper bottles covering Lavender, Black Lemon, Cardamom, and Orleans, each produced using the same hand-zested, small-batch approach found across the full Scrappy's line. Lavender was the brand's original flagship release and the product credited with introducing lavender as a standalone bitters flavor. Black Lemon takes its name from a Middle Eastern spice, while Orleans draws on the anise-forward, New Orleans style bitters historically used in drinks like the Sazerac.
Lavender opens bright and floral, turning surprisingly sweet and well rounded rather than sharp or perfumed. Black Lemon carries charred, caramelized citrus notes with a faint smokiness, while Cardamom delivers intense cooked and fresh cardamom pod alongside lemon zest, green peppercorn, and a medium-high bitterness. Orleans rounds out the set with a strong star anise character that turns sweet and floral by the finish, making the four bottles a useful cross-section of citrus, spice, and floral bitters styles.
