Disznókő takes its name from a volcanic rock, often translated as "wild boar stone," at the heart of a vineyard first recorded in 1413. The estate was classified as a First Growth in 1732 and sits near Mezőzombor in the Tokaj region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. AXA Millésimes acquired the property in 1992, and the roughly 110 contiguous hectares have since been replanted and fitted with a modern winery. Disznókő has produced Tokaji Aszú in every vintage since then and helped lead the revival of a fresher style.

The 2017 Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos is made from Furmint grown on volcanic soils of rhyolite tuff and clay. The 2017 season began with a cold January and a mild spring, followed by alternating cool, rainy spells and hot, dry days. Grapes ripened early, and noble rot developed intensely on fully ripe fruit. Shriveled aszú berries are hand-picked over several passes through the vineyard. The wine then spends two years in oak, only 10 percent of it new, and is bottled in a 500 ml format at 12.5 percent alcohol.

Dried apricot and fig mingle with honey, orange peel, and floral notes, finishing with brioche and gentle spice. The texture is richly viscous yet lifted by bright acidity, and the finish lingers. This is a polished, concentrated sweet wine with the freshness that defines the Disznókő style.
